CARNIVAL: Clubs are ready for Carnival Concerts 2018

CARNIVAL clubs have been putting the finishing touches to their 2018 Carnival Concert performances at a final dress rehearsal on Sunday (September 30, 2018).

The opening night of the annual ever-popular concerts will take place at Bridgwater Town Hall from Monday, October 1, through to Saturday, October 6, and then from Monday, October 8, through to Sunday, October 13.

The concerts start at 7pm on weekday nights and 6pm at weekends and the show lasts about four hours.

The Carnival Concerts act as a great warm up for the clubs for their dance routines and choreography before the main Carnival event and runs for 12 nights.

A Carnival spokesman said: “The concert is itself a great spectacle, each night always sells out and has a prestigious local following.

“Between each act from the 13 carnival clubs and 2 dance troupes that participate “front of curtain” acts fill the time with music, singing and magic tricks to entertain the audience.”

The results will be announced following the final concert of the season on October 13.

Renegades Carnival Club will be looking to retain the White Hart Cup it won at the 2017 Carnival Concerts with the entry entitled Maori-Aotearoa.

Gremlins CC came second last year with Run To The Hills, while Ramblers CC came third with The Unfair.
