SCHOOL NEWS: Another great GCSE year for Bridgwater College Academy

BRIDGWATER College Academy students have made excellent progress in their GCSE results – for the fourth successive year.

Sixty per cent of students achieved a standard pass (old C grade) or better in both their English and Mathematics with eight students achieving at least one of the new Grade 9 which is reserved for the very best students in the country.

Students received their GCSE results on Thursday (August 23, 2018).

Thirty-eight per cent of students gained a strong pass in both English and Mathematics. Other departments had exceptional successes with 88% of students achieving a strong pass or better in Biology and Chemistry, 94% in Physics, 83% in Art.

Combined Science, Computer Science and GCSE Physical Education were also excellent.

The staff at Bridgwater College Academy are hugely proud of the brilliant results achieved by this year’s cohort.

Head of Secondary, Andy Sandercock, said: “These fantastic results demonstrate that staff at Bridgwater College Academy are consistently able to support students of all abilities to believe in themselves and achieve great successes.

“This will enable them to access the broadest range of opportunities in the future and we are so very proud of each and every one of them.”

Students who deserve particular praise are Joshua Renton, Karolina Tabola, Katie Carpenter, Brandon Ham, Ryan Lynch, William Bryant and Caitlin Heaton.
