BRIDGWATER NEWS: New town clerk appointed for Bridgwater
BRIDGWATER Town Council has announced the appointment of David Mears as its new town clerk and responsible financial officer.
Mr Mears will take over the role from Alan Hurford who is to retire after 15 years in the town clerk job.
The new Bridgwater town clerk has had a similar role at Langport Town Council for around five years and has wide experience with several local councils as well being a former councillor on Chard Town Council.
Mr Mears will take up the post later in the year.
Mr Hurford, speaking about news of the appointment on Wednesday (August 8, 2018), said: “David is very well qualified, ambitious and looking for a new challenge.
“Bridgwater, one of the more forward looking local councils, will certainly welcome him and provide that challenge.”
