BUSINESS: M&S Bridgwater Foodhall officially opens
M&S Bridgwater Foodhall opened its doors to customers for the first time on Wednesday (June 20, 2018) - bringing M&S’s quality food and drink to the community.
Store manager, Andy Harris, was joined by the winner of M&S’s Community Hero competition, six-year-old Tayen Gilbery, to cut the ribbon and officially open the store.
Tayen was nominated for her determination to live life to the fullest, despite spending much of her life battling Neurofibtomsyosis type one, an incurable genetic condition which causes tumours to grow on nerves in her body, which has left her blind and epileptic.
Andy, who began his career with M&S ten years ago, said: “My team and I are so excited to open our store today and we’re thrilled to be joined by our Community Hero, Tayen, who is an inspiration to all of us.
“We want to put the community at the heart of our store and Tayen’s story is really motivating for our own fundraising efforts.”
Six-year-old Tayen said: “I was really excited to meet Andy and hold the big gold scissors! I can’t wait to tell my friends about opening the M&S in Bridgwater – it’s been the best day.”
Mum Kali said: “Tayen is a really special girl and it’s amazing to see the huge amount of support we’ve had from both M&S and the Bridgwater community. We’re excited to make the most of having an M&S so close to where we live – Tayen will no doubt be digging into her favourite Percy Pigs when she gets home!”
M&S Bridgwater Foodhall showcases over 6,000 of M&S’s quality food and drink products, as well as offering M&S’s popular Click & Collect service. This means online customers will be able to have M&S.com Clothing & Home orders delivered to the store the next day, free of charge.
Andy continued: “The Foodhall has opened just in time for M&S’s new summer range and there are so many innovative products lining the shelves. From unmissable BBQ food to delicious desserts and drinks to enjoy in the sunshine, we can’t wait to introduce our customers to the latest M&S products.”
Some of the first customers through the door were husband and wife Edward and Dale Mitchell, from Bridgwater, who said: “We’re delighted to be among the first customers to be welcomed into the new Foodhall by Andy and his team. People in Bridgwater have been incredibly excited about the new store opening and we think it’s going to make a huge difference to the community.”
Speaking at the opening, Cllr Anne Fraser, said: “M&S Bridgwater is a key asset to the redevelopment of Gallagher Retail Park and it’s great to see so many members of the community enjoying the new offering. We’ve supported the store throughout its journey and it’s wonderful to hear the positive feedback from customers today.”
Customers can also make the most of M&S’s members’ club, Sparks, which provides tailor-made offers and priority access to M&S seasonal previews and sales. Customers can pick up a new card in store or use their existing one to collect points whilst shopping at Bridgwater Foodhall.
The store is located at Unit C2, Gallagher Retail Park, The Clink, Bridgwater, TA6 4AB and is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
