BRIDGWATER NEWS: One casualty in cooker fire at home

EMERGENCY services were called out in the early hours of Saturday (March 3, 2018) following reports of a fire at a home in Bridgwater.

The alarm was raised at just after midnight to the problem in Mariners Close where a member of the public had phoned the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to say that a neighbour’s fire alarm was sounding.

One fire engine from Bridgwater was mobilised to the scene and on arrival the firefighters found there was a pan which had been left unattended on a cooker, while there was also one casualty in need of medical assistance.

“We removed the pan to the open air and ventilated the property,” said a Fire Service spokesman. “We isolated the cooker and an ambulance was requested for the casualty.”
