LEISURE: My Fair Lady with Bridgwater Operatic Society
TICKETS have gone on general sale for Bridgwater Operatic Society’s forthcoming production of My Fair Lady.
Tickets have been on sale to members for several weeks and seats are already becoming scarce for this much anticipated production by the current holders of the prestigious Rose Bowl award for best musical.
Set in London in 1912, My Fair Lady follows the captivating story of the arrogant phonetics professor, Henry Higgins who sets out to win a bet that he can turn Cockney Eliza Doolittle into a lady who will be accepted into the highest social echelons.
The musical begins at Covent Garden market with Eliza surrounded by her Cockney friends and moves to Higgins’ house so that the transformation from lowly flower-seller can begin. Higgins and Eliza clash, then form an unlikely bond -- one that is threatened by an aristocratic suitor!
With a wonderful score and book by Lerner and Lowe, based on George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, the show is packed with all-time classics such as Wouldn’t it be Loverly?, With a Little Bit of Luck, I Could Have Danced All Night and On The Street Where You Live, and many more.
This lively, colourful production will captivate and enthral audiences of all ages.
My Fair Lady will be performed at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater from May 1-5, 2018, at 7.30pm each evening with an extra 2.30pm matinee show on the Saturday (May 5, 2018).
Tickets are priced £17 with concessions available. Phone the box office on 01278-662181 or go to www.bridgwateros.co.uk .
