SEDGEMOOR NEWS: The Great British Spring Clean – still time to register to take part

SEDGEMOOR District Council is backing The Great British Spring Clean - a nationwide campaign from Keep Britain Tidy to get half a million people out-and-about cleaning up their local communities over a forthcoming weekend.

Now the council is looking for an army of volunteers to help in the tidy-up over the weekend of March 2-4, 2018.

Litter remains a huge problem across the country, causing harm to the environment and wildlife, with councils in England having to spend more than £700 million on street cleaning services every year.

Sedgemoor District Council is loaning a range of support for those who are doing their bit, including free volunteer clean-up kits containing litter pickers and gloves and will then collect the bags of collected rubbish.

A delivery of special ‘Great British Spring Clean’ rubbish bags have been received by Sedgemoor District Council and are just waiting to be filled.

Groups from Burtle, Badgworth, Cheddar, Bawdrip and Chilton Polden have already confirmed that they are taking part with the help of the council, but the authority has plenty of bags and litter picking equipment that can be used!

The Friends of Apex Park, along with members of the Sedgemoor Model Boat Club, are inviting volunteers to take part in an organised litter-pick at Apex Park at Highbirdge on Friday, March 2, 2018, between 10am and 2pm.
