NETBALL: Emily selected for national squad
A TALENTED netball player from Bridgwater has been selected for the Association of Colleges’ Sport National Netball Squad.
Emily Rossiter, of Bridgwater and Taunton College, who is also a former Haygrove School student, attended competitive trials in December 2017 at Nottingham University with AoC Sport National netball coach Julie Kimber.
More than 60 girls attended the final trials, and with just 21 vacancies for the squad, it was set to be an intense and competitive trial.
Players were put through their paces with a number of skills and drills, followed by game play. During the Christmas break selections were made and Emily, who is studying Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Sport (Coaching and Development), was informed of her success.
Emily’s selection requires her to attend National training and fixtures in locations right across the country including Belfast, Derby and Cardiff.
Emily said: “I'm so nervous but so excited to have the opportunity to train and play at this high level! I've loved playing netball from a young age and to be given this opportunity is amazing. Thank you to the College for putting me forward for trials, and for their support.”
Emily is a part of the Team BTC Netball team at Bridgwater and Taunton College and therefore enjoys access to regular coaching from experienced coaches and a competitive games programme.
