SCHOOL NEWS: Computer game whizz kid is programming for success
A BRIDGWATER student is seeing millions of ‘plays’ across the world on a computer game he designed.
Jacob Girdler, aged 15, of Chilton Trinity School, coded a game entitled Two Player Secret Hideout Tycoon used by the hit app game Roblox - which has 30 million active monthly users worldwide.
Now he is seeing the users buying his game and bringing him in an income each month.
The inspiring student is heading off to Richard Huish College in September to combine his computer programming studies, with maths and physics, with the aim of being a full-time game and computer programmer.
He has also just completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Chilton Trinity headteacher Lesley Greenway said: “We are very proud of Jacob. He has obvious huge talent and he will go far.”
