BRIDGWATER NEWS: Man arrested after East Bower burglary

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a burglary in the East Bower area of Bridgwater in the early hours of Tuesday (January 9, 2018).

Officers were patrolling the area at about 4.40am when they spotted a man acting suspiciously near the doorway of a house. A man was arrested in nearby Sully Close on suspicion of burglary.

The officers found a purse nearby and, on rousing the occupants of the house, found that a handbag which had contained the purse was missing from the address.

A man remains in police custody at the time of writing and enquiries continue.

A police spokesman said: “We’d remind everyone they can help to keep their neighbourhood safe by reporting suspicious incidents.

“If you see someone acting suspiciously around a neighbour’s property, call police straight away.

“If they’re obviously breaking-in phone 999. Otherwise, call the non-emergency number 101 - operators are on hand 24/7.”
