SCHOOL NEWS: Festive banquet fun at Forest School
CHILDREN at Bridgwater Academy have worked hard in the run-up to the festive season to produce a Christmas Banquet Display with a difference.
Pupils from the reception, Year One and Year Two classes used their outdoor Forest School classroom sessions to make the display by learning new skills such as weaving to make placemats, finger-knitting to make bunting, and papier mache to make pretend food.
They used clay to make plates and vegetables, carpentry tools to produce wooden crackers, coasters and candles and they crafted willow to create knives, forks, napkin rings and chairs.
The children also decorated their Christmas trees with milk bottles and other materials.
Photographer Jeff Searle, of Bridgwater Press, went along to take some pictures of the festive display – but had to be reminded that it was only pretend food when he went to tuck into the “turkey.”
