BRIDGWATER NEWS: Festive party for Bridgwater’s Talking Newspaper
MORE than 40 listeners and volunteers met at the Salvation Hall in Bridgwater for the annual Bridgwater Talking Newspaper Christmas party.
Chairman and charity trustee, Richard Culverhouse, welcomed everyone to the party on Saturday (December 2, 2017) and thanked those involved in organising the event, as well as those who volunteer each week to produce the talking news in the Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea areas.
He said that the aim was not only to continue to bring people with visual impairments the local news, but also broaden the scope of the items included.
The Talking Newspaper was begun eight years ago and has now grown to have 70 listeners, 25 volunteers and recorded almost 450 editions.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious afternoon tea and were entertained by Bridgwater Singing for Fun (U3A) Choir and some seasonal readings to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
The listeners from the former Burnham Sounds and Voices charity have been incorporated in the Bridgwater Talking News.
