COLLEGE NEWS: Students chosen for national This Girl Can ambassador programme

SEVEN students from Bridgwater and Taunton College have been chosen to be part of a national campaign led by AoC Sport to get more teenage girls active.

The This Girl Can Ambassadors will be tasked with raising awareness of the Sport England campaign around the college.

They will be promoting and delivering existing college opportunities as well as creating a range of exciting new activities that will appeal to their female peers and encourage them to get active.  Ambassadors will be expected to target a minimum of 30 inactive females in the college throughout the year.

The number of female students aged from 16 to 19 taking part in sport and physical activity is significantly less than the number of male students of the same age - therefore the programme represents a terrific opportunity for the girls to make a difference to female students across the whole college.

The ambassadors will get first-hand experience working in a sports development and sports coaching role which will look fantastic on university and job applications for their future careers.

The ambassadors will work alongside the BTC Active team to support the tackling inactivity project which is being funded by Sport England.

The students will ensure all female students get a chance to have their say on what they would like to see offered as well as opportunities to get active.  You can check out what they are up to by following them on Facebook (@BTC This Girl Can).
