BUSINESS: Acorn opens new branch in Bridgwater

RECRUITMENT agency Acorn has opened a new branch in Bridgwater based at the Woodlands Business Park.

This new branch is one of two new locations in the South West, as they’re just about to open the doors to a new site in Bournemouth, which adds up to a network of 12 branches throughout the South West and a further 23 UK-wide.

The Bridgwater branch will provide key specialist recruitment support to businesses and job seekers in the area, including sales and customer service with a strong emphasis on the call centre market, business development, marketing and finance. The branch will also support key construction, nuclear and energy projects planned throughout the UK, as well as warehouse and logistics to provide thriving businesses with hundreds of industrial workers and drivers.

Newly-appointed commercial development manager, Matthew Hastie, has been brought in to manage both Bournemouth and Bridgwater offices. Matthew moved to England in 2003 after graduating from the University of Sydney, and has since developed consistent professional expertise in the recruitment and staffing industry.

Matthew’s 20 years’ experience in recruitment has seen him manage over 20 sites and 3,000 workers as regional director. His experience in recruitment and knowledge of the South West job market is crucial for Acorn to continue and grow as one of the UK’s leading specialist recruitment agencies and the recruitment partner of choice for so many businesses.

Matthew said: “I am very excited about this new opportunity - it’s great to be able to lead two new branches for Acorn and therefore play a significant role in the company’s key growth plans.

“I’m also eager to work with businesses in and around Bridgwater and Bournemouth, continuing existing relationships and developing new ones with employers who have their own strategic growth plans and therefore need the right permanent and temporary staff to support them.”

Matthew also happens to be a sports fanatic. The former semi-professional rugby player has played over 250 games for Bridgwater and Albion RFC, and captained Taunton RFC to an undefeated season.

He also represented North Petherton RFC and Tor RFC, and plays both cricket and golf. There is no doubt this impressive background will enable Matthew to build a strong team spirit in Acorn’s new offices.

Acorn now has 12 branches spread across the South West, in Barnstaple, Bridgwater, Bristol, Bournemouth, Chippenham, Exeter, Gloucester, Newton Abbot, Plymouth, Tiverton, Truro and Yeovil.

Noel Hoare, South West divisional manager for Acorn, said: “We are very proud to announce the opening of our new Bridgwater and Bournemouth branches.

“We have already seen great growth potential materialise in the South West, and we are confident these new locations will bring just as much success.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Matthew to our company. His demonstrated expertise in the industry and his rare understanding of the local job market makes him the perfect match for this demanding yet rewarding role. I’m confident he will help us continue to effectively meet the requirements of employers and jobseekers.”
