BUSINESS: Breakfast Club sell-out in Bridgwater

THE inaugural Bridgwater Breakfast Club event took place earlier this month with tickets having completely sold out.

An audience of 40 from businesses in Bridgwater and the surrounding area were given the opportunity to network over breakfast on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, before enjoying a highly engaging presentation from a leading expert on virtual reality technology.BUSINESS: Breakfast Club sell-out in Bridgwater Photo 1

Bridgwater's Breakfast Club is a collaboration between Red Berry Recruitment, New Leaf Life Design, Sedgemoor FM and YMCA Somerset Coast.

The aim of the collaboration is to provide a much needed networking group that enables businesses in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas to meet, network, share best practice and gain new knowledge that will help businesses to grow and develop.

The inaugural event featured guest speaker Simon Cattell, director of Access Performance Solutions Ltd and Access VR, who supply and manufacture Google Cardboards and Virtual Reality experiences.BUSINESS: Breakfast Club sell-out in Bridgwater Photo 2

Simon spoke in detail about virtual, augmented and mixed reality, providing a many fascinating insights into the effect that virtual reality is having on business, changing the way things work and how people do things.

Attendees were given the chance to have a go with Google glasses and experience Virtual Reality first hand – something which many had never done before.

The event also offered a great opportunity for guests to network before and after the talk, and included a lively debate about the role that technology will play in the recruitment market and potential issues such as the automation of jobs. BUSINESS: Breakfast Club sell-out in Bridgwater Photo 3

Helen Lacey, MD of Red Berry Recruitment and one of the founder members of Bridgwater’s Breakfast Club, said: “A very successful morning with lots of networking, informative discussion and learning points.

“Everyone I spoke to during and after the event said they had a really great morning and where looking forward to the next breakfast club in November.”

Dave White, founder and CEO at White Bruce, said: “I thought the event got the balance spot on, with a really engaging speaker. And such an amazing building!”

Events will take place on the third Wednesday of each month at the YMCA Somerset Coast in Bridgwater.
