BRIDGWATER NEWS: Papa John’s Pizza outlet coming to town?

PIZZA chain Papa John’s has applied to Sedgemoor District Council for planning permission to put up signs in Bridgwater – which will lead to speculation that it is set to soon open a restaurant in the town.

The company has just asked the council for permission for advertisement consent to put up a number of signs at the former Paragon Laundry site in Taunton Road.

It was back in May 2013 when Sedgemoor first gave permission for the derelict laundry site to be developed with the building of a ground floor convenience store and fast food outlet with 14 flats above, 22 residential units, access and parking.

The Papa John’s business was founded in 1984 in Indiana, USA, and has grown substantially since then to become one of the largest pizza groups in the world with more than 5,000 outlets in 40 countries.

The laundry at Taunton Road was destroyed by fire in 2009 and the site was derelict for several years.

Papa John’s official website is currently stating its nearest outlets to Bridgwater are in Taunton or across the Bristol Channel in Barry or Cardiff!
