SCHOOL NEWS: Take a look inside the new Northgate Primary School

PUPILS at the new Northgate Primary School in Bridgwater will soon be taking their seats in the classrooms for the first time.

The school will open in September 2017 and there will initially be a reception class and a combined Year 1-2 class.

Around 40 children are set to start at the new school for the September opening on the site of the old Blake Hospital site.

The new school will be part of a Bridgwater 'Hub' for the innovative Clevedon Learning Trust.

Earlier this year the Department for Education confirmed their funding agreement to guarantee the school's opening in September and the school has already passed its pre-opening Ofsted inspection.

A 26-place nursery for children age 30 months to four years will be available from January 2018.

Fantastic facilities including an astro pitch, dance studio and hall will be available for the community.

Somerset County Council awarded £1.3 million to the school project from a fund set up to support education facilities in the area as part of the planning agreement with EDF Energy to build Hinkley Point C.

Bridgwater Press photographer Jeff Searle went along to take a sneaky look inside the school to see what the pupils have to look forward to.
