GCSE RESULTS 2017: Aspire, Achieve, Celebrate comes to the fore at Robert Blake Science College
STUDENTS and staff at the Robert Blake Science College in Bridgwater were celebrating on Thursday (August 24, 2017) a brilliant set of GCSE results.
The percentage of students attaining a Grade 4 (equivalent to a Grade C) or above in English and maths was 53%.
The percentage of students achieving five or more standard GCSE passes (equivalent to a Grade C or above) was 57%, while the percentage of students achieving at least one qualification is 100%.
And headteacher Deborah Loveridge said: “These are the best ever GCSE results in the history of our school and we are incredibly proud of our students!
“Some of the individual student performances are staggering in terms of the number of optimum grades attained.
“Two of our students gained an AS level grade A – a phenomenal personal achievement. Whilst acknowledging the enormous achievements of the most able is very important, what gives me the greatest pleasure is the consistent progress that many of our students make irrespective of their ability or starting point.
Miss Loveridge added: “We are a truly inclusive school that does support, mentor, nurture, encourage and celebrate every single student.
“We have fantastic dedication from the students and unwavering belief from staff, which is the perfect recipe for success.
“The fabulous support of our students from parents over the last five years, especially over the last few months, of their schooling is also very much appreciated.
“It is not an easy time to live with a teenager; the support that has been shown through attendance at revision events and ensuring their children have the right working environment at home has enabled our students to flourish and subsequently celebrate these wonderful results.”
Miss Loveridge added: “The students and teachers have had to cope with many changes to the English and mathematics syllabi and changes nationally to the examination system.
“Behind every set of examination results there is a personal story of hard work, commitment and perseverance, which we are keen to celebrate. We are absolutely delighted that the hard work of the students has been rewarded with these marvellous results. We are all very proud.
“These results further build on improvements seen in previous years and will allow our students to follow the path of their choice, whether that be to further education, apprenticeships or further training.
“We are committed to our school statement: Aspire, Achieve, Celebrate.”
