LEISURE: Vikings are a hit in Burnham

LEISURE: Vikings are a hit in Burnham

THE Vikings invaded Burnham-on-Sea last weekend – but thankfully there were no reports of raping and pillaging going on.

The Viking re-enactment group Draco Beordor were at the Manor Gardens in Burnham on Saturday and Sunday, August 12-13, 2017, where members set up an encampment and were more than happy to speak with visitors about the history of the Norse seafarers who raided parts of Europe during the late 8th to late 11th centuries.

The re-enactment group performed battle displays over the weekend and were happy to allow younger visitors a chance to join in the action.

There were other activities laid on over the weekend at the Manor Gardens for people to enjoy during the event organised by BOS Events CIC.

Brian Bateman went along to the event to get some pictures for the Bridgwater Press.
