SEDGEMOOR NEWS: Travelodge plans for Isleport unveiled

PLANS have been submitted to Sedgemoor District Council to build a 75-bedroom Travelodge on the outskirts of Highbridge.

ERC Developments Ltd have put in for full planning permission to go-ahead with the project on land to the east of Bennett Road on the Isleport Business Park.

The Travelodge will built – if given permission - close to the planned new Aldi superstore which received planning approval from the council earlier this year.

A spokesman for ERC Developments said: “A hotel use within this location will serve the existing Isleport Business Park, Burnham-on-Sea and future development within the area.

“The proposed hotel is an appropriate use for this site with a good location in relation to the M5 and access road to the business park.”

The planned Travelodge will have 75 rooms along with integral bar and café and will have car parking spaces for 75 vehicles.

It is understood the Travelodge would create five full-time jobs and 16 part-time jobs if given the go-ahead by Sedgemoor District Council.

A decision on the application is not expected until the end of August 2017 at the earliest.
