BRIDGWATER NEWS: Man suffers burns in van fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called out on Wednesday (July 19, 2017) morning to deal with a van on fire at the Bridgwater Retail Park.

The alarm was raised at just before 8am to the problem at The Leggar and one fire engine from Bridgwater was mobilised.

Firefighters quickly got to work to deal with the situation and found that the fire was located in a pressure washer in the back of the van.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental,” said a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

“Damage was ten per cent heat damage and 20 per cent smoke damage to the van.”

The spokesman added that a man received “minor burns” to his arms at the scene and was took himself to hospital for treatment.
