BUDDING young crime-fighters were encouraged to call in to EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point Visitor Centre on Saturday (July 15, 2017) for an insight into the life of a police officer.

Taunton and Street Police Cadets were at the visitor centre in Bridgwater’s Angel Place Shopping Centre from 10am to 3pm with a host of crime-fighting gadgets and challenges.

They showed people how to take fingerprints and visitors were given the chance to take home a print of their own digit as a souvenir keyring or a badge. There was also a crime scene investigation challenge and the opportunity to dress up in police riot gear.

A number of police vehicles were also on display in the main walkway area of the shopping centre.

Sherryl Sellick, Hinkley Point Visitor Centre co-ordinator, said: “We were extremely grateful to the cadets for coming along to the visitor centre and showcasing the work they do in the community.

“It was a great opportunity for people to find out more about the police service and the science behind their crime scene investigations.”
