BRIDGWATER NEWS: 12 arrests in drugs busts in town
POLICE have carried out a day of drug-busting action in Bridgwater as part of a seven-month investigation and operation to target dealers in Somerset.
Officers carried out nine search warrants across Bridgwater on Tuesday (July 11, 2017) and made a further 12 arrests, bringing the total for the two days of action to 23 warrants and 39 arrests.
The operation, run by the Investigations Team in Somerset, comes as the result of a lengthy investigation looking at out-of-town drug dealers across the county.
Approximately 100 officers were involved in the activities on Tuesday and representatives from Sedgemoor District Council were out and about with the police to reassure local communities.
Twenty-two people were charged after last week's activities in Taunton, with 16 remanded in prison.
C/Insp Simpson reiterated her thanks to the public for providing information and evidence to aid our investigations.
