BRIDGWATER NEWS: Vandalism on increase in West Street area

POLICE are to step up patrols in an area of Bridgwater following reports of an increase in vandalism.

It was reported to the police that vandalism in the West Street area of Bridgwater was becoming a real problem.

But Sgt Joe Piscina, of Bridgwater Police, has confirmed that the West Street area would in future be included in the night-time patrols carried out by officers.

The issue of vandalism in the West Street area was discussed during Thursday’s (June 29, 2017) Town Development Forum meeting which had decided to focus on policing in Bridgwater.

Delegates from a wide ranging number of community groups such as the Trades Union Council, Churches Together, Civic Society and the Senior Citizens Forum joined residents’ groups, traders and individuals for the meeting.

Also attending the meeting, which was hosted by Bridgwater Town Council, were Avon and Somerset’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Sue Mountstephens, and Chief Inspector Lisa Simpson.
